INFANTS
Infants run on their own feeding and sleeping routines, so they do not follow our toddler daily routine. The needs of infants differ from those of the toddlers/preschoolers. They are both included in daily activities (as appropriate) and nurtured to meet their own unique needs.
Much of our time is spent nurturing and bonding so that they can develop a healthy confidence. Infant and young toddler activities include many sensory experiences, both indoors and out. We provide special play areas for them to safely explore their world. As infants grow, their needs can quickly change. I follow your child’s uniquely individual schedule rather than a predetermined schedule, and I keep in close contact with parents so that we can keep your infant's home routine and daycare routine as similar as possible. I support infant’s development through daily activities and routines that support their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
Infant activities include but are not limited to the following:
Floor Time (allowing infant to explore and discover)
Tummy Time (alone or with other infants)
Music (listen to a variety of music and sounds)
Reading (picture books and image explorations)
Shakers
Soft Block Play
Sensory Activities
No restraining devices are allowed in California home daycares, so I do not have any exersaucers, Bumbo chairs, bouncy chairs. etc. Infants spend their time being held and played with in our arms or on a soft blanket or play gym on the floor.
